On 7 April 2022, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Chrystia Freeland, presented Budget 2022: A plan to grow our economy and make life more affordable.

The budget proposes measures to help Canadians save for their first home, including the introduction of the First-Time Home Buyers' Tax-Free Savings Account and a doubling of the First-Time Home Buyers' Tax Credit. It also aims to reduce taxes for growing small businesses and includes new incentives for the development of clean technologies and carbon capture, use and storage.
